December 2023

The seed for Cultigraphy was planted with an architecture grad’s question: can visual design be sustainable?

Yes, and it can be so much more.

Our mission is simple. Climate change is one of the most critical issues Aotearoa is facing, and we’d like to do something about it.

The mahi reflected upon in our Annual Report is humble in scale, compared to the outstanding impact of the changemakers we support. We hope that this is the first crucial step in redefining what a design agency can be for Aotearoa.

Total Donated: $2,707

Small, but an optimistic start. We reinvested a portion of profit into Aotearoa’s people & environment, and hope to multiply this number hundredfold over the next 5 years.

National Multiethnic Young Leaders Summit

The National Multiethnic Young Leaders Summit (2022) united ethnically-diverse young leaders to explore topics on inclusion, intersectionality, and being a good tiriti partner. This was our first ever project, and we’re stoked to have continued working with the client to strengthen their mahi— diversifying Aotearoa’s leadership pipeline.

Sol + Gather

Sol + Gather

Our first community event, co-hosted with Kaaio Studio, was a laidback spring hangout bringing together 18 creatives for the climate. We raised $250 for Plastic Ocean Australasia’s Picnic Unwrapped Campaign.

As 2024 begins, our focus is to grow the seedlings of impact we worked so hard on cultivating this year.

Backed with an enduring studio ethos and reputation that we’re proud of, the goal is to formalise and scale what we’re already doing. Fund climate initiatives in Tāmaki Makaurau, get impact certified, refine our design craft, partner with more exceptional changemakers, grow the team, and maybe take a shot at those coveted design awards.

Here’s to another year of doing good.

Ngā mihi nui to Michelle, Dylan, Evy, Linzie, Nikki, and Marie. Without your hope for a better world, we wouldn’t be here. Same for Shahin, Irisha, and everyone who supported our first steps as a design studio.
